Prime Minister Dr. Mohammad Shtayyeh welcomes the ICC ruling as ‘victory of justice and humanity'

Today, Prime Minister Dr. Mohammad Shtayyeh welcomed the ruling of the Pre-Trial Chamber of the International Criminal court, which declared, by majority, that the territorial jurisdiction of the ICC in the situation in Palestine extends to the Palestinian territory occupied in 1967, namely the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.

"The ruling is a victory of justice, humanity and the values of truth, and freedom. It is a message to crime perpetrators that their crimes will not be subject to the statute of limitations and that they will not go unpunished," stated the Prime Minister.

"The government continues to document the ongoing Israeli crimes against our people, particularly the killings, house demolitions, land confiscations, and settlement expansions that undermine the two-state solution and violate international law and related resolutions, especially UNSC Resolution 2334," added the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister called upon the ICC to speed up its judicial procedures in cases brought before it, which include crimes committed by Israel during its three wars on the Gaza Strip, and the prisoners' and settlement files.
