Prime Minister Shtayyeh Condemns Efforts to Undermine Palestinian Refugees and Denounces Israeli Government's Terrorism

Dr. Shtayyeh expressed his strong disapproval of the projects aimed at undermining the Palestinian refugees' issue, including the "review of the definition of Palestinian refugees" and the redefinition of the role of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), which would lead to the abolition of refugee status for the descendants of Palestinian refugees. PM emphasized that these attempts are unacceptable and show contempt and disregard for the Palestinian grievance and the extent of the injustice and suffering that have befallen the Palestinian people since 1948. The Prime Minister called on the international community to support and preserve UNRWA and urged them to adhere to the decisions of international legitimacy related to the Palestinian refugees.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister denounced the statements made by Smotrich, the Minister of Finance in the occupation government, and other members of the Israeli government against the Palestinians, their existence, and their cause. PM stressed that the extremist government's approach is reflected in these statements and that the "colonialists' terror" in Hawara, Beita, Burin, and other Palestinian villages, towns, cities, and camps is supported and protected by the Israeli political government and the occupation army. Dr. Shtayyeh asserted that what is happening on the ground is systematic state terrorism, which is carried out through various means, including the settlers' gangs. PM Dr. Shtayyeh emphasized that Hawara remains steadfast and that the occupation will come to an end.

Dr. Shtayyeh concluded this session by welcoming the positions of countries that condemned the terrorism of Israeli settlers against Palestinian civilians and demanded a halt to the construction of new settlement units. On behalf of the Council of Ministers, he expressed appreciation for these countries' support and solidarity with the Palestinian people.
