Prime Minister Dr. Mohammad Shtayyeh commends Saudi Arabia's decision to appoint Nayef Al-Sudairi as non-resident Ambassador to Palestine and Consul General in Jerusalem. PM Dr. Shtayyeh emphasizes the political significance of this step in countering the discriminatory measures of the Israeli occupation. The Prime Minister also lauds Australia's recognition of Palestinian territories as "occupied" and settlements as "illegal," expressing optimism for Australia's potential recognition of the State of Palestine. PM welcomes the support of over 200 organizations in North America and the petition signed by international academics against the Israeli apartheid regime.

Speaking at the outset of the Cabinet weekly meeting held in Ramallah, Dr. Shtayyeh hailed the decision of Saudi Arabia to appoint Nayef Al-Sudairi as non-resident Ambassador to Palestine and as Consul General in Jerusalem, PM stressed its political significance to the Palestinian cause. PM Dr. Shtayyeh further emphasized the political significance of this step in countering the discriminatory measures of the Israeli occupation against Palestinians.

The Prime Minister lauded the Australian government's declaration recognizing Palestinian territories as "occupied" and settlements as "illegal”, and that Australia will resume calling the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip as “Occupied Palestinian Territories”, and that the Israeli settlements are illegal according to international law, stressing that this important step is consistent with international law and United Nations resolutions. PM further expressed optimism for Australia's potential recognition of the State of Palestine.

PM Dr. Shtayyeh hailed the position of more than 200 organizations in North America, including institutions, unions, and churches, under the title "A Society Free of Apartheid", opposed to the ongoing crimes of the Israeli occupation against Palestinians. On another note, PM welcomed the launch of more than 1,200 international academics and figures of a petition opposed to the Israeli apartheid regime, which resulted from the long and illegal occupation of the Palestinian territories, calling for re-activating the Special Committee against Apartheid in the United Nations.
