Ramallah – Prime Minister’s Office – Prime Minister Dr. Mohammed Mustafa met with the Deputy Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer of the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), Carl Skau, and his accompanying delegation to discuss enhancing relief efforts and coordinating joint work in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, as well as increasing the volume of relief and humanitarian aid.

During the meeting, Dr. Mustafa was briefed by Skau on the WFP's efforts to provide relief and humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, and discussed increasing the number of beneficiaries of the program in light of the ongoing Israeli genocidal war against the Palestinian people.

Dr. Mustafa stressed the importance of coordinating efforts among all relief parties involved and the government, particularly the World Food Programme, being one of the largest distributors of aid in the war-torn Gaza Strip, as well as the necessity of developing a joint working mechanism to ensure the delivery of aid to all areas in the Gaza Strip and to WFP’s beneficiaries in the West Bank, especially in Bedouin communities and areas classified “C,” which are marginalized and severely impacted by the Israeli apartheid and separation wall and settlements.

Additionally, Dr. Mustafa urged the World Food Programme to purchase aid and relief supplies from the Palestinian market in the West Bank and send them to the Gaza Strip whenever possible to support the Palestinian economy amid the difficult and dire conditions it faces.

The meeting, held at the Prime Minister’s Office in Ramallah, was attended by Minister of Social Development Samah Hamad and Minister of State for Relief Affairs Basel Nasser.
