Ramallah – Prime Minister’s Office – The Palestinian government has welcomed the European Union's positive response to its request for emergency financial support. This marks a significant step towards alleviating the severe financial and economic crisis faced by the Palestinian people, which has been further exacerbated by the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.

Following months of concerted efforts, the European Commission has approved to provide and emergency financial assistance of €400 million in grants and loans. This funding will be disbursed in three payments over the coming months for various purposes, and will pave the way for the mitigation of the financial and economic crisis. Additional discussions are planned to secure further financial support over the next two years.

The government views this emergency aid package and the planned financial stability plan as a crucial foundation for enhancing the efforts of national institutions in delivering services to citizens. It remains committed to securing further international and Arab support to improve the financial and economic situation in Palestine. This will enable the government to fulfill its obligations to public employees and service providers, paving the way for a new phase of economic revitalization, private sector empowerment, and addressing unemployment.

To ensure the intended financial stability and to supplement efforts to further improve the enabling regulatory and institutional environment, the government will continue its efforts to improve public institutions’ performance, transparency and service quality, enhance the judicial system, provide necessary social welfare, combat unemployment, improve educational outcomes and enhance healthcare services.

In the same context, the government reiterates its call for all international partners to intensify their efforts and pressure to halt the Israeli war of genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza, the West Bank, and Jerusalem. Additionally, it urges the acceleration of emergency relief operations, and the cessation of various Israeli measures. Of particular concern are the ongoing illegal deductions from Palestinian clearance revenues and delays in transferring them, the prevention of Palestinian workers from accessing their workplaces, and the restrictions on movement and mobility. All of these actions constitute violations of international law, humanitarian law, and signed agreements.
