Ramallah – Prime Minister's Office - Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Mohammad Mustafa, affirmed, “We fully support all efforts and initiatives aimed at achieving a ceasefire and the release of all prisoners, paving the way for a political path toward a comprehensive solution to end the occupation and realize the establishment of the independent Palestinian state.”

Prime Minister Mustafa emphasized the urgency of the situation, wondering, “How long must the world wait as Israel continues its brutal massacres against our people in Gaza, where the majority of martyrs are women and children?"

The humanitarian suffering and severe conditions in the Gaza Strip must be brought to an end, he added.

This came during his meeting, at his office in Ramallah, with Luxembourg’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Xavier Bettel, in the presence of Minister of State for Relief Affairs Basil Nasser.

The Prime Minister voiced Palestine’s rejection and condemnation of Israel’s recent legislation banning UNRWA’s operations, warning that it would deprive Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank of the critical services that UNRWA provides—currently the sole lifeline providing services and relief and humanitarian assistance in Gaza due to the limited presence of the Government.

Dr. Mustafa called on the European Union and its Member States to impose sanctions on Israel, compel it to adhere to and respect international law, and increase pressure to halt all Israeli deductions from Palestinian tax revenues, as well as to release all withheld funds.

He also expressed deep appreciation for Luxembourg’s positive support, recognizing its efforts to support a ceasefire, halt the aggression against the Palestinian people, and provide continued financial support for UNRWA.

For his part, Luxembourg’s Foreign Minister expressed his country’s commitment to a ceasefire, the release of prisoners and captives, and alleviating the humanitarian suffering in Gaza. He urged de-escalation across the region, affirmed Luxembourg’s support for the Palestinian people’s inalienable right to an independent state, and reiterated Luxembourg’s continued financial support for UNRWA and its mandate as outlined by the resolutions of the United Nations and international legitimacy.
