On the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, we express our sincere gratitude to the Irish Seanad for their true solidarity through endorsing the implementation of International law, recognizing the deep injustice endured by the Palestinians, and becoming the first in the European Union to approve a legislation that bans illegal Israeli settlement products.

“This courageous and eloquent decision by the Irish Seanad, stridently speaks that 51 years of hollow condemnation of colonial Israeli violations and war crimes is not enough. The time has come for the international community to take concrete policies that would endorse the international law, and United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolution No. 2334, and halt colonial Israeli policies and measures of house demolitions, land confiscations, forcible displacements, and transfers of the indigenous inhabitants of the land, the Palestinian citizens.” PMO Spokesperson Ahmad Shami stated.

“On this note, we urge Ireland to take concrete steps to recognize the State of Palestine in order to advance the peace prospects and contribute to the two-state solution. We also call upon the international community, the European Union, and world organizations to support Palestinian human rights and take effective, expeditious steps to ban all Israeli settlement products including the academic cooperation. Therefore, we call upon international academic institutions, and multilateral research bodies to adopt the calls of the Palestinian government, especially, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education to withdraw their recognition of Ariel University, located in the Israeli settlement of Ariel, and all Israeli academic institutions built illegally on confiscated and occupied Palestinian lands.” Shami added
