Prime Minister Dr. Mohammad Shtayyeh: The Quartet Must Pressure Israel to Stop its Annexation and Confiscation Plans

During a meeting via video conference with the European Union Representative Sven Kühn von Burgsdorff, Prime Minister Dr. Mohammad Shtayyeh called upon the Quartet to pressure Israel to stop its annexation and confiscation plans especially in the Jordan Valley and its illegal expansionary settlements. Dr. Shtayyeh stressed that such schemes destroy the two-state solution and the realization of an independent State of Palestine.

The Prime Minister warned against every step Israel would take in the context of implementing "The Deal Of The Century" on the ground, which was rejected by the whole world. Dr. Shtayyeh pointed out the necessity of holding an international peace conference towards finding a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian cause.

About the COVID-19 crisis, Dr. Shtayyeh said: "Israel, as an occupying power, must assume its responsibilities towards our people in occupied Jerusalem. If it does not want to assume this responsibility, it has to allow us to serve our people in the city."

Dr. Shtayyeh presented an overview of the government's plans to confront COVID-19 on both the health and economic levels, calling on the European Union to support the private sector, especially small and medium-sized enterprises, in a way that contributes to the recovery of the Palestinian economy after the end of this crisis.
