Today’s Cabinet meeting will be devoted to discussing the latest developments in Jerusalem. The Cabinet is in permanent session for a daily follow-up on the situation of our people in Jerusalem.

This morning, the gates were closed to worshipers in the Al-Aqsa Mosque Compound. We condemn the incursion of the Israeli occupying forces into the Al-Aqsa Mosque at dawn today and the injury of tens of worshipers in preparation for the storming of the [Israeli] far-right extremist groups into the compound. I hold the Israeli government fully responsible for the recent acts against worshipers in the Al-Aqsa Mosque. I warn against the repercussions of such incursions as well as attempts to forcibly evict the citizens of Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, the indigenous owners of the land from their homes, who were forcibly displaced from their homes is Haifa, Yafa, and Akko during the Nakba in 1948, which marks 73 years this year on the same day of Eid Al-Fitr. I call upon the international community to immediately intervene and stop these terrible violations and to provide protection for the citizens of occupied Palestine, especially in the city of Jerusalem, which is subjected to ethnic cleansing.

Today, Jerusalem brings back the glow of the Palestinian question. Through its minarets and the bells of its churches, Jerusalem raises the Adhan (call to prayer) of its superiority, persistence, and glory in the face of those who try to no avail obliterating its identity, changing its monuments, and falsifying its Arab, Islamic and Christian history.

On your behalf, I salute our people in the Arab city of Jerusalem, who have brought the question of Palestine back on the global agenda in solidarity with the holy city and Palestine. Today, we have no other priority but Jerusalem.

What is happening in Jerusalem reflects the spirit of criminality and hatred practiced in political party education, school education and in the curriculum in Israel.

Today the UN Security Council will convene to discuss attacks against Jerusalem and the forced displacement of the residents of Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood. The Council of the Arab League will also convene tomorrow at the level of foreign ministers, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation will hold a meeting to discuss the steps to be taken regarding the attacks against the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, and the harassment and assaults against worshipers, which led to the admission of hundreds of them to hospitals due to injuries. I call on the occupation authorities to immediately release detainees, who were arrested since the start of the current Israeli attack on Al-Aqsa Mosque compound.

We condemn the intention of the occupation authorities to build 392 new settlement units on the lands of al-Khader, Dhahriya, and Ramin in Tulkarm, in addition to the construction of a bypass road near Sawiya town in Nablus. Such plans aim to complete the settlement colonization programs, as part of the ongoing debate between the extreme right-wing parties to form the new Israeli government.
