Prime Minister Dr. Mohammad Shtayyeh and the US State Department Envoy,  Hady Amr, today discussed the dangerous developments in occupied Palestine and the need to stop the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip. The meeting was held in the Office of the Prime Minister, in the presence of Khaled Al-Osaily, the Minister of National Economy, and Mohammad Ziyarah, the Minister of Public Works and Housing.

The Prime Minister called on the United States to immediately intervene and stop the occupying power's aggression that is shedding the blood of our people in Gaza, of whom more than 200 civilians, including 50 children, were killed.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister stressed the need to stop the forcible transfer and ethnic cleansing policies practiced by Israel, the occupying power, and its settlers in occupied Jerusalem, including in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, as well as the attacks on the Al-Aqsa Mosque Compound and the Church of the Holy Sepulcher.

The Prime Minister also confirmed the leadership's openness to any political effort based on international law and in a way that puts an end to Israel’s occupation and leads to an independent and sovereign State of Palestine on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Both parties discussed the details of the US aid announced to be resumed by US President Joe Biden. In this context, Dr. Shtayyeh demanded that this aid should be consistent with Palestine's national priorities and the sectoral development plan.

For his part, Amr stressed the US endeavor to stop the escalation of violence in the Gaza Strip and the need to work for the two-state solution.
