Dr. Mohammad Shtayyeh, the Prime Minister of Palestine, has issued a warning that Israel is attempting to take control of Palestinian archeological sites in the West Bank under various pretexts.

During a cabinet meeting held in Ramallah, Dr. Shtayyeh expressed concerns about the increasing aggression and terrorism by Israeli settlers against Palestinian archeological sites, including historical Sebastia in the north of the West Bank and Husan village with its water springs and pools in Bethlehem, some of which are included on UNESCO's World Heritage List. The Prime Minister has called on UNESCO to exercise its responsibility towards these sites.

At the same meeting, the Cabinet expressed concerns about the actions of Mekorot, the Israeli water company, in significantly reducing water quotas, while the Occupying State is simultaneously doubling the amount of water being provided to colonial settlers in the occupied territories. The Prime Minister highlighted that this is a dangerous, racist, and discriminatory measure that deprives Palestinians of their most basic rights to water. PM stressed that the average Palestinian per capita consumption of water does not exceed 72 liters per day, while the Israeli consumes 320 liters per day.

The Palestinian Cabinet expressed its gratitude for the support and sponsorship of partner States in the adoption of a Human Rights Council resolution calling for the development of a database of companies operating in or engaging in direct or indirect activities with Israeli settlements. The Prime Minister called on the countries that did not support this resolution to reconsider their positions and stop encouraging the occupation authorities to continue their crimes. He noted that the positions of these countries are not only against human rights, but also against international law.
