Rome – Prime Minister’s Office – Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Mohammed Mustafa, met with his Italian counterpart, Georgia Meloni, in the Italian capital, Rome.

Mustafa briefed Meloni on the latest developments in Palestine and the ongoing genocidal war against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, in addition to the continuous Israeli violations and settler terrorism in the West Bank. He also highlighted the increasing and unprecedented escalation in settlement activity that poses a threat to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.

He emphasized that the priority now is to cease the genocidal war waged by the Israeli occupation on Gaza, restore essential services to meet the humanitarian needs of the Palestinian people there, and release the Palestinian clearance funds withheld by Israel.

Mustafa urged Italy to recognize the Palestinian state, following the lead of 147 countries that have already recognized Palestine so far, including Spain, Norway, and Ireland, most recently.

In turn, Meloni affirmed her country's support for the two-state solution and readiness to work together, especially during Italy’s presidency of the G7 group, to achieve a two-state solution, emphasizing that the situation in the Middle East and the war on the Gaza Strip are at the top of the G7's meetings.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister had met with the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, who affirmed his country's support for the Palestinian government's agenda, as well as Italy’s strive to achieve a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and to swiftly respond to the urgent humanitarian needs.
