Prime Minister Mustafa discusses government relief plans for Gaza with UN Chief Humanitarian Coordinator

Ramallah – Prime Minister’s Office - Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Mohammed Mustafa, discussed with United Nations Senior Humanitarian and Reconstruction Coordinator for Gaza, Sigrid Kaag, the importance of coordinating efforts among all relief parties involved and the government, emphasizing the need to align these efforts with the government's relief plans overseen by the Ministry of State for Relief Affairs.

During a meeting at his office in Ramallah, Mustafa provided an overview of the government's short-term, medium-term, and long-term relief plans, as well as the reconstruction plans for the day following the cessation of the Israeli genocidal war against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip; stressing the need for financial support and enabling the government to carry out its duties.

Mustafa reiterated that the Gaza Strip is an integral part and parcel of the Palestinian state, emphasizing that the Palestinian Authority has been responsible for providing services to the Palestinian people in Gaza since its establishment, including healthcare, education, infrastructure, and other services. He expressed the government's readiness to reopen the Egypt-Rafah border crossing to serve the Palestinian people in accordance with the 2005 Agreement on Movement and Access (AMA), provided that the Israeli occupation forces withdraw from the area.

For her part, Kaag affirmed that all efforts and pressures are being exerted to increase the entry of relief and humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip through all crossings, with a focus on the quality of aid and emergency needs, and ensuring their distribution across all areas in the Strip.
