Ramallah – Prime Minister’s Office - Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Mohammed Mustafa, discussed with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan the agenda of the extraordinary meeting of the D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation (D-8), to address the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip since October 7th.

During a phone call, Prime Minister Mustafa also briefed the Turkish FM on the latest developments amid the ongoing Israeli genocidal war against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, the grave situation in the Palestinian territories and the escalating Israeli violations against the Palestinian people in the West Bank and Jerusalem.

 “In Istanbul, we (D-8 countries) declare together to the whole world that we are not silent in face of Israeli oppression in Gaza and we cannot remain silent,” Turkey’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated at a joint press conference following the Extraordinary Developing-8 Countries Foreign Ministers Council Meeting. “Those who oppose occupation in Ukraine consider resistance to occupation in Palestine a crime,” Fidan asserted.

During the Istanbul meeting, we discussed what can be done to end the Israeli barbarism in Gaza. We agreed to mobilize all available means to achieve an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and to deliver humanitarian aid, added Fidan.

Fidan said that the path to lasting peace cannot be achieved through war, but through the implementation of agreements and international diplomatic efforts to achieve a two-state solution; asserting that those responsible for the massacres in Gaza will certainly be held accountable.

The Foreign Ministers of the D-8 Member States pledged to mobilize all available resources to ensure an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and to deliver relief and humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people there.
