Prime Minister Mustafa chairs a working session to discuss agricultural sector development strategy and strengthening steadfastness

Ramallah – Prime Minister’s Office - Prime Minister Dr. Mohammad Mustafa chaired a consultative working session to discuss the strategy for the agricultural sector, focusing on four main initiatives: water and food security, greening Palestine, providing urgent relief to farmers, as well as a plan for the relief and revitalization of the agricultural sector in Gaza.

During the session, held at the Prime Minister’s office in Ramallah, Mustafa underscored the need for significant progress in this vital sector to strengthen the steadfastness of the Palestinian people, especially in areas targeted by the Israeli occupation and settlers. He pointed out that this session would be followed by further discussions with non-governmental organizations, civil society, the private sector, and other stakeholders, with the aim of launching a national initiative for the agricultural sector.

Minister of Agriculture Rizq Salmiya presented the plan, detailing its strategic aspects and sub-initiatives in the field of agricultural development aimed at boosting agricultural productivity, improving water and food security, and enhancing the resilience of citizens. This will kick start as a comprehensive plan for the development of the agricultural sector, following consultations with various competent entities.

Salmiya highlighted the need to address and overcome challenges faced by the agricultural sector, such as Israeli control over natural resources, restrictions on movement, closures, climate change, and the limited availability of natural agricultural resources, in order to develop these initiatives and translate them into action plans.
