New York – Prime Minister’s Office - Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Mohammad Mustafa, met separately on the sidelines of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, the Foreign Minister of Algeria Ahmed Attaf, Foreign Minister of Bulgaria Ivan Kondov, Foreign Minister of Malaysia Mohamad Hasan, Foreign Minister of the Sovereign Order of Malta (Knights of Malta) Ricardo Paterno, and Foreign Minister of Trinidad and Tobago Amery Browne.

During the meetings, the Prime Minister focused on garnering international support to stop the Israeli occupation’s ongoing aggression against the Palestinian people in Gaza, advancing efforts to back Palestine’s bid for full membership in the United Nations, and gaining further international recognition of the State of Palestine.

Additionally, Mustafa discussed with the Foreign Ministers mechanisms for implementing the UN General Assembly resolution based on the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice (ICJ), in order to end the occupation and embody the establishment of the Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

He also stressed the importance of strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation in areas of mutual interest at both the official and popular levels.

The Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Mohammad Mustafa, signed a joint declaration with Trinidad and Tobago's Foreign Minister Amery Browne to establish diplomatic relations between the State of Palestine and the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, enhancing the friendly ties and cooperation in areas of common interest between the two countries and their peoples.
