Prime Minister Mustafa: Lack of international accountability enables Israel’s continued crimes against Palestinian people

Ramallah - Prime Minister’s Office: Prime Minister Dr. Mohammad Mustafa stressed on Wednesday that the absence of international accountability for Israel perpetuates its actions and crimes against the Palestinian people.

Dr. Mustafa reiterated that implementing UN Security Council Resolution 2735 serves as a roadmap to halt the Israeli occupation aggression against the Palestinian people in Gaza, ensure the unimpeded delivery of urgent humanitarian aid to meet the needs of its population, initiate the reconstruction process, and reunify the West Bank and Gaza as a step toward ending the occupation and realizing the independent Palestinian state.

This statement was made during a meeting, at his office in Ramallah, with Sven Koopmans, the European Union Special Representative for the Middle East Peace Process. The meeting was attended by the EU Representative to Palestine, Alexandre Stutzmann.

The Prime Minister emphasized that Gaza is an integral part of the Palestinian statehood project, reaffirming the Government's responsibility for running the Strip as part of its responsibility over the entire Palestinian Territory.

He noted that all relevant ministries have prepared plans for relief, early recovery, reconstruction, economic revitalization, and institutional unification, ready to be implemented once the Israeli aggression ceases.

Mustafa commended the EU’s pivotal role, alongside international partners, in the Global Alliance for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, stressing the need for intensified efforts to create a viable political pathway toward ending the occupation and realizing the establishment of the independent Palestinian state.

The Prime Minister also expressed appreciation to the EU and its institutions for their emergency financial support to the Palestinian Government during 2024 and underscored the importance of continued efforts to secure a new and sustainable support package for the years ahead.
