Ramallah, Prime Minister’s Office – Prime Minister Dr. Mohammad Mustafa underscored, on Monday, the critical need to focus on early recovery and the restoration of essential services in Gaza, alongside ongoing humanitarian and relief efforts. He highlighted the importance of coordinated efforts with UN agencies to facilitate the delivery of vital supplies to the Gaza Strip.
These remarks were made during his meeting, at his office in Ramallah, with the UN Humanitarian Coordinator for the Occupied Palestinian Territory, Muhannad Hadi. The meeting was attended by Minister of Health Majid Abu Ramadan, Minister of Social Development Samah Hamad, and Minister of Local Government Sami Hajjawi.
Prime Minister Mustafa briefed the UN Coordinator on the Government’s relief, early recovery, and emergency response plan for Gaza, which had been developed several months earlier and is currently being updated in light of the cessation of the Israeli aggression. He outlined priorities for the next six months, including the establishment of an independent body for Gaza reconstruction and preparations for an international donor conference for reconstruction, in coordination with donor countries and relevant international institutions.
Mustafa underscored the importance of coordinated joint efforts between UN agencies and the Emergency Government Operations Room for Gaza to expedite the implementation of relief and recovery plans, as well as collaboration with the Ministry of Social Development, in partnership with the Red Crescent and international relief organizations, to ensure effective aid distribution within Gaza.
For his part, the UN Coordinator provided an overview of ongoing efforts to deliver 600 aid trucks daily, including fuel, to the Gaza Strip, as well as to coordinate the distribution of these supplies across all areas of the Strip with the institutions of the State of Palestine. He also outlined plans to provide tents and temporary shelters for displaced Palestinians, reaffirming the full collaboration and coordination of UN agencies with Palestine’s institutions in relief, early recovery, and reconstruction efforts in Gaza.
