Ramallah, Prime Minister’s Office – Prime Minister Dr. Mohammad Mustafa discussed, on Monday, with the Senior Humanitarian and Reconstruction Coordinator for Gaza, Sigrid Kaag, coordinating joint efforts and practical steps to implement the Government’s relief, early recovery, and emergency response plan for Gaza.

During a meeting at his office in Ramallah, joined by Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Wael Zakout and Minister of Social Development Samah Hamad, Prime Minister Mustafa briefed Ms. Kaag on the key outcomes of the recent Cabinet session, which included the establishment of an emergency governmental operations room for Gaza, which will remain in permanent session. He underscored the readiness of Government teams to scale up efforts in providing humanitarian relief, clearing debris, restoring essential services, managing border crossings, and reconstruction.

Mustafa emphasized the importance of coordinating all relief efforts through the State of Palestine and its institutions only. This approach, he stressed, is vital to preventing duplication of efforts and ensuring aid is effectively delivered to those most in need. He also highlighted the ongoing collaboration with international partners to finalize comprehensive damage assessment reports for Gaza, as well as discussion aimed at preparing for an international donor conference in collaboration with donor countries and relevant international organizations.

Ms. Kaag reiterated the United Nations' commitment to providing all necessary resources and continuing joint efforts between UN agencies and Palestinian institutions. She acknowledged the Palestinian Government’s comprehensive plans, capacities, and expertise to lead the efforts in Gaza effectively.
