Brussels, Prime Minister's Office — Prime Minister Dr. Mohammad Mustafa held a consultation session with his Belgian counterpart, Alexander De Croo, to discuss advancing the peace process, achieving Palestinian statehood, as well as the situation in the Palestinian Territory, particularly in Gaza.

Prime Minister Mustafa emphasized that efforts should go beyond merely halting the aggression and implementing a ceasefire. Instead, a political track must be pursued to end the occupation, realize the establishment of the Palestinian state, and ensure the Palestinian people attain their legitimate and inalienable rights to freedom and independence.

He highlighted the readiness of Palestinian state institutions to intensify their efforts in Gaza immediately after the Israeli aggression ceases, focusing on providing humanitarian and relief aid and restoring essential services.

He also called on the European Union to resume the work of its mission at the Rafah Border Crossing to facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip.

Prime Minister Mustafa expressed appreciation to Belgium for its political, economic, and humanitarian support for Palestine, especially during these challenging times.

For his part, Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo reiterated his country’s support for efforts to establish a ceasefire and facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza. He affirmed that the two-State solution remains the only path to achieving peace.

The meeting was attended by Belgian Foreign Minister Bernard Quintin and, from the Palestinian side, Palestine’s Ambassador to the EU, Belgium, and Luxembourg Amal Jadou Shakaa, Prime Minister’s Advisor Dr. Mohammad Al-Ahmad, and Assistant Foreign Minister Ambassador Omar Awadallah.
