RAMALLAH, June 17, 2025 | Government Communication Center – In his opening remarks at the weekly Cabinet session held on Tuesday, Prime Minister Dr. Mohammad Mustafa emphasized that “It has become clear to anyone that there is no solution to the region’s problems without realizing the Palestinian people’s legitimate rights," noting that "the International Peace Conference, which was scheduled to convene today in New York—but will regrettably be suspended following its opening session—represents, for us, the most appropriate entry point to achieving peace and realizing Palestinian statehood.”

“In line with President Mahmoud Abbas’ directives, we are maintaining ongoing consultations with international partners to ensure the conference resumes as soon as possible. We are determined not to let it become, as some want it to be, another casualty of this war,” Mustafa affirmed.

He further reiterated the Government's commitment to intensifying political and diplomatic efforts to stop the aggression and reclaim the inalienable political and financial rights of the Palestinian people.

Additionally, the Prime Minister said, "In light of the exceptional circumstances and rapidly escalating challenges facing our region, the Government has prepared contingency plans and established a central ministerial task force to support emergency committees in the governorates. This is to ensure swift action and a rapid response to the current crisis, while also securing a strategic reserve of essential goods sufficient for three to six months, depending on the item."

“Our immediate priority is to safeguard our people, reinforce their steadfastness, and ensure their basic needs are met,” said Prime Minister Mustafa. He emphasized the Government's continued efforts to guarantee the delivery of essential services to the Palestinian people in the West Bank, despite financial constraints resulting from Israel's withholding of Palestinian clearance revenues and the excessive accumulation of Israeli shekels.

The Prime Minister expressed deep concern over the catastrophic humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip, particularly in areas such as Rafah, Jabalia, Beit Lahia, Beit Hanoun, eastern Gaza City, and the outskirts of Khan Younis. “The devastation and suffering caused by hunger and displacement are way beyond alarming,” he stated.

During the session, the Cabinet reviewed the worsening situation on the ground, including efforts to address displacement in the northern West Bank refugee camps in light of the allocation of $2 million to advance the construction of temporary shelter centres in Tulkarm and Jenin for families recently displaced from refugee camps.

Finally, and in light of regional developments, the Cabinet urged the public to adhere to guidance from the relevant authorities, avoid mass gatherings, reduce crowding in public markets and fuel stations, and act responsibly given the current risks.
