Ramallah – Prime Minister’s Office – Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Mohammad Mustafa, during a meeting with the British Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs David Lammy, stressed the urgent need to advance efforts to stop the Israeli genocidal war against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, enhance emergency relief efforts and increase the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza. He further emphasized the need to stop the Israeli occupation and settler attacks and settlement expansion in the West Bank, including Jerusalem. The meeting was attended by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Varsen Aghabekian Shahin and British Consul-General in Jerusalem Diane Corner.

Mustafa emphasized that the recent United Nations Security Council resolution 2735, which enjoys everyone’s approval, provides a strong foundation for ending the war on Gaza. It contributes to the return of Palestinians to their homes and ending the Israeli occupation of Gaza, ensures the delivery of humanitarian aid and assistance at scale throughout the Gaza Strip, and the start of the reconstruction process for Gaza. Importantly, it reiterates unwavering commitment to the vision of the two-State solution.

The Prime Minister also discussed with Lammy the importance of enhancing British support for Palestine, which will contribute to the building of Palestinian institutional capacity, support the economic recovery and revival from the repercussions of the Israeli occupation war on the Palestinian people, and enhance relief and reconstruction efforts.

Mustafa briefed the British Foreign Secretary on the government's efforts in institutional reform and development. He provided an overview of key priority areas, including energy security and renewable energy, promoting the health sector and localizing healthcare services, enhancing government services provided for citizens, strengthening social protection, strengthening the principles of governance, transparency, accountability, and anti-corruption, developing the justice sector, integrating digital transformation in productive and service sectors, and boosting economic growth and recovery.

The British Foreign Secretary Lammy reaffirmed the UK's commitment to the two-state solution; affirming his country’s efforts to reach an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. He also emphasized the importance of ensuring that humanitarian aid reaches all residents of Gaza, stopping the illegal Israeli settlement expansion, and the escalating violence by Israeli settlers in the West Bank. Lammy reiterated Britain's support for the Palestinian government's reform efforts.
