Ramallah, February 11, 2025, Prime Minister’s Office – Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohammad Mustafa discussed today, Tuesday, in his office in Ramallah with Portuguese Foreign Minister Paulo Rangel, the latest developments in Palestine, particularly in light of the Israeli occupation ongoing aggression on the northern West Bank. The meeting, joined by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Varsin Shaheen, also covered the Government's humanitarian relief efforts in Gaza.

Mustafa outlined the Government’s relief efforts in Gaza, which are being spearheaded through the Government Operations Room for Emergency Response, in collaboration with all humanitarian organizations operating in the Strip. These efforts aim to ensure the optimal distribution of aid, provide temporary shelter, rehabilitate partially destroyed housing units, remove debris, and restore essential services, all in preparation for full-scale reconstruction.

The Prime Minister emphasized that Israel is systematically destroying the West Bank through continued military incursions into cities, towns, villages, and refugee camps in northern West Bank, as well as daily killings, detentions, and the demolition of homes, facilities, and infrastructure.

He also underscored the absolute rejection of all schemes to forcibly displace the Palestinian people from Gaza, as well as Israel’s annexation schemes in the West Bank, which undermine the realization of the independent Palestinian state.

Mustafa further stressed the importance of implementing UN Security Council Resolution 2735, which demands a permanent ceasefire, the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza, the unification of the State of Palestine's institutions between the West Bank and Gaza, preparation for reconstruction, and the realization of the independent Palestinian state.

The Prime Minister commended Portugal for its unwavering position and support for Palestine and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people in all international forums.

For his part, Foreign Minister Rangel expressed solidarity with the Palestinian people, particularly those in Gaza, stressing the urgent need for increased humanitarian assistance and a sustained ceasefire.

He reaffirmed the necessity for Israel to adhere to international law and humanitarian law, support the Palestinian Government’s full assumption of its responsibilities in Gaza, its reform efforts, and the unification of Palestinian institutions.

Additionally, he reiterated Portugal’s rejection of Israeli settlement expansion, annexation schemes in the West Bank, and the forced displacement of Palestinians from Gaza.
